Years Before the #MeToo Movement, the Trailblazing Cases Against Prominent Male Abusers Were Handled by Wigdor LLP and The Law Office of Kevin Mintzer.

In May 2011, a 33-year-old housekeeper at the exclusive Sofitel hotel in Manhattan was sexually assaulted by Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the front-runner to unseat Nicolas Sarkozy in the 2012 French presidential election.  Nafissatou Diallo, an immigrant from Africa, was the woman Strauss-Kahn tried to rape and Wigdor LLP had the privilege of representing.  The explosive case rocked international politics and Strauss-Kahn, with powerful connections and deep wealth, fought back bitterly.  All along, lawyers from Wigdor LLP stood by Ms. Diallo and aggressively litigated on her behalf – refusing to cease until Strauss-Kahn’s status as a sexual predator was exposed to the world and he was held accountable for his attempted rape of Ms. Diallo. The case is the subject of a Netflix documentary in which Doug Wigdor appeared.

Wigdor LLP navigated the complex legal issues and constant media attention for Ms. Diallo at a time before #MeToo, when the treatment of female victims was far less understanding and the hurdles even higher for victims.  Then and now, our lawyers fearlessly advocate for victims of sexual assault.

Before Ms. Diallo’s horrific assault in May 2011, the lawyers at Wigdor LLP and The Law Office of Kevin Mintzer successfully litigated countless sexual assault and rape cases and they continue to do so through the present.  Experience matters.  The right legal team on your side makes all the difference.
